Solo Act
Words & Music by Brenda Layne
April night
Cold April winter
Your smile is the fire
I had a chance to warm by tonight
I’m surprised
So many men make me shiver
But you really took off the chill tonight
You are looking, you are sounding really good tonight
I wish you would play me a lot like that guitar
Strong and gentle, sentimental, perfect time and taste
But I’ve made my entrance, as usual, too late
To be part of a duet so it’s back
To my Solo Act
It’s not possible to separate the men from their guitars
They take the harmony with them when love’s arranged wrong
Dall and Steve have Martins, Chris and Tommy Fender Strats
We all made great music ‘til the romance went flat
Then it’s back to my Ovation and scat…Solo
These musicians love layin’ down my tracks
Until some new rhythm goes walkin’ past
Then they throw me back
To my Solo Act
You are looking, you are sounding really good tonight
I wish you’d play with me
Strong and gentle, sentimental, perfect time and taste
This could be trouble….
